im loving my 55 inch bravia great 2d pic and awesome 3d i wear prescription glasses so wearing glasses to watch doesnt bother me get one you wont regret it
I am an Optometrist, who somewhat understands the process utilized to separate the images (as far as the brain is concerned). While the technology is much better than the old polarized system, I still get a bit of eyestrain with the newer systems, and the images are darker, which makes brighter projectors necessary. Until they get rid of the eyestrain entirely, the hassle of wearing glasses, along with even minor eyestrain, will make the new so-called 3D TV's obsolete very quickly, and would not recommend buying first generation TV's accordingly. I opted to view the latest 3D pic (Alice in Wonderland) in regular 2D, and will not go out of my way to see too many 3D movies (Avatar is an exception), in the future, until the next iteration of the genre makes it easily accessible.
The 3-D experience with "shutter glasses" is disorienting and makes me nausiated. Even the TV salesman at Fry's told me he gets sick watching 3-D TV. If you buy a 3-D TV flatpanel just makes sure they throw in free BARF BAGS!!
There is an information on the web provided by the eye doctors, that watching 3D even in an expensive 3D glasses is bad for the vision, specially for the kids. My impression watching 3D TV at Best Buy: the images are darker, minor eyestrain, the hassle of wearing glasses. I think if you wear those glasses for a long time you are going to get a headache. 3D TV call for the Warning of Health Hazards.
WOW HO MY GOD! I CAN IMAGING ME PLAYING MODERN WARFARE 2 IN 3D OR WATCHING SOCCER, SOUTH AFRICA 2010 IN 3D, I CAN'T WAIT TO GET MY 3D TV SONY BRAVIA AND STAR ENJOYING THE EXPERIENCE IF I CAN I WILL PRE ORDER MY 3DTV, THANK YOU SONY IT'S A DREAM COME TO REALITY.
Like all new things it takes time for companys to get them working right and 3D tv is no different. As my deceased father use to say Black and white is fine till they perfect those color tv's so we sit back and wait with him it was 5 years or untill the B7W TV stoped working can't remember which so I'll give it about 4 yrs before I jump in.
Looks like I will wait until the Japanese improve the 3D TV format just a little further so as to watch the 3D TV without glasses (as seen in CES), bring on the future!!!
I would wait until someone publishes a study on the long term effects of watching 3D TV on the way the brain processes optic signals before diving in.... I saw Avatar this weekend and it was great, but I got a tinge of a headache from the 3D experience and felt a bit disoriented for a short period after the movie. Of course there is also the obvious that this is just an attempt to try to keep TV sales up in a sagging economy. I wonder how many people will put this on their credit cards?
A neat trick. Fun once in a while, but this could get old quick, especially with glasses. It is also a very clever way to cut the refresh rate in half to create a market for higher, and more expensive, refresh rates. How about bigger and cheaper (plasmas of course) instead of these silly features?
LOL I'd rather have a better viewing angle personally.... The PN42B450 already supports 3D content and its been out a year. Throw the DLP away and get with the program.
"average person can't afford 3d tv for a long time and will people want the product?"
Well, if the average person makes a little more than minimum wage, it should be be too hard to save $2,000-$3,000 in a year. And if they are into any kind of tech, this is a cool product and most peop0le would be in line to pick one up. I definitely will be.
The average person making twice minimum wage would still have a problem saving so much money. Not unless of course their parents still pay for everything.
Prices are in line with last years new TVs with a modest increase. Very affordable to say the least plus these new 3D TVs have picture quality and feature improvements The glasses are very light and there many fashionable styles to your liking. I'm getting a Panasonic 65" 3D set when they come out.
Most are right in line with previous years models. The panny 50VT25 is gonna be in bestbuy in march for $2,500, almost the same price the 50V10 started out at.

One thing about Avatar in 3D...
...the glasses darkened the picture and made the colors look washed out. I'd rather have good hi-res 2D with bright natural-looking colors.
